I know a lot of the members of this forum are avid gamers, so I wanted to see if we could get a good gamer-oriented discussion going. :D

Which game/game series do you guys think is the BEST EVER MADE?

If I could choose one, it'd HAVE to be the Legend of Zelda series, bar-none.

Legend of Zelda series is up there, for sure. Metroid is up there, though. For me at least. And Castlevania. Those are really my top 3

God Of War :D :D :D

Seconded for that and Legend of Zelda :)

Although I'm not a fan of Metroid, from I hear there's never been a bad one, so I say it's one of the best :)

I know I am gonna get crap for this, but I'm gonna have to put Halo in here. Yes, it's overrated, and yes, it doesn't really cater to people who refuse to play FPS's on a controller. For me though, it's still the only shooter series I've been able to get into. Halo pioneered the regenerating health meter we see in almost EVERY shooter these days. Whether it's just like Halo with the energy shields or the screen slowly getting red, Halo started it. So yeah, Halo :)

Also, since there's at least three games now, the Super Smash Bros. Series. Crossover fighting games needto happen more often. Let's see some Master Chief vs. Super Monkey Ball :P

I'm a bit surprised (and glad, actually) that Final Fantasy hasn't been mentioned yet. Don't get me wrong, FF is fantastic and I love many of the games, but there are some things. First of all, there's not all THAT much FF has done that's been ground breaking. Some things are: ATB gauge, cinematic storytelling (as far as RPG's go), some interesting twists on genres. Maybe some others. But the fact of the matter is, FF tends to follow the JRPG tradition of turn-based, seperate screen battles with over-the-top action (which I luff) and melodramatic, whiney characters with out of control hair (I'm looking at you, Cloud). It doesn't help that SE has milked more than it's needed too off of FFVII, and I can't STAND it when companies do this. I'm not alone on this, but I know I'm also not opposed on this either ^^; FFVII has overstayed its welcome in my opinion, and the whole phenomenon has kind of soured the FF series as a whole for me.

Of course, what has Zelda done that's been any different between games? XD And Capcom, the company that rarely changes its formula when they make games (You liked Mega Man? Well, here's the same game with different levels, bosses, and weapons, but plays exactly the same. We'll call it...Mega Man...2). Doesn't always bother me I guess XD

I'm gonna catch flack for this too, but I honestly think that Pokemon is one of the best series out there. Yeah, it's cartoony and kiddy and all that, but hear me out. It's got the addictive, monster collecting formula done right; other games in the same style are NEVER as good. The idea of having two different versions of the same game with variations between them seems like a gimmick, but it's provided the groundwork for some necessary co-op between players who are seeking full completion of a game, and providing that opportunity makes for a good idea.

I agree that Pokemon broke HUGE new ground back in the day, and it's still selling pretty well overseas. I'm guilty of playing MANY of those games.  ;D

Two guesses as for my favorite series.  Yes, I know the gameplay wasn't terribly groundbreaking; and even frustrating at times.  But the story in all of them has kept me the most interested out of any game I've ever played.

Wish I could say that about Origins.  That game is awful D:

I love Mega Man before that.  <3  Even if the games remain the same throughout each game, it improves with the X series (MMX1-5 are very good).  The Zero games are a great challenge; the ZX ones are fun, too.

That's it for me. :0

I LOVE Final Fantasy! AND Resident Evil...and the Smash Brothers...and Legend of Zelda...more I'm sure O-o

I'd have to say Final Fantasy DOES top for me. It just sucks they moved away from Nintendo for the most part. I really don't want to have to buy a PS3 to keep playing them D:

I will say one thing about Zelda though. After playing Twilight Princess I honestly don't know if I can play another Zelda. Don't get mewrong, TP was great, but it really was just a rehashed Ocarina of time, complete with recucled music. Unless they start ammedning the concept, I might just be done with the series.

That is something I have to commend Resident Evil for. Capcom realised everyone was getting sick of their character moving like a tank and made one of the best games ever made: Resident Evil 4.
