We had a debate in class during religion.

The situation about government financial aid for the less fortunate in Belgium has a real high standerd (anyone who has a waiger less then the normal working man gets immediate donations from the government). Now we were debating why this is good/bad. This brings us down to immigration and mass taxes. We discussed about the immigration. Because of the mass immigration of the east, lot's of people in class gets the illusion that they come down to Belgium for the immediate donations (this quickly became racist, let's pass that). Now for the lazy people who don't want to work are getting these donations too while the working men must pay up for these donations. I told my class that our country is a liberal country not for nothing, if you don't work, you shouldn't get these donations. Now some in our class discussed our country is getting communist because of this. Why would they say something like that? Well I do agree of some marxis idea's on it but come on! Should the hard working men give so much taxes for these donations?

Its very much the same here in england, we call it the doll. I agree with these things if your in a situation where you cannot work for some reason, or maybe just in between jobs. But i have known people to live of this for good portions of their lives, this is what i think is wrong. But luckily our government is enforcing a new rule saying if your able to work you have something like 4 months to find a new job or they get cut off. Sadly they are also doing this for single mothers with children over a certain age, this is something i do not agree with to an extent, the cut of age is far too young for the children to be settled into a school routine and be able to care for themselves while the mother is out working. I think this entire benefits debate in most countries are a Grey area, since some people need it and deserve it, and other do not.

We too have something similar here in Sweden.
Tho here the money goes to those who cannot work, are studying, or are actively looking for a job. If you are able to work and don't look for one, you won't even be given a stone.
If you don't do a thing and just live on donations while able to actually do something else than sit on your butt, I agree they shouldn't get anything at all.

A very strong one, indeed. I think our influence is spreading.

uhu but thanks to these donation we get lot's of immigration and extra taxes due to the immigrations. Now i don't say all the immigrants are comming because of that, but I've soon some examples IRL. I don't think that should be a welcomming card into a country. Should we keep paying up for this?

Also i'm curious about the parallel...

Also i'm curious about the parallel...

As far as I know, communism uses the principle of equal distribution of wealth to all, regardless of social status and all that, and regardless of whether someone who worked less (or not at all) deserves as much of the wealth as someone who worked much harder for it.

Giving tax dollars to people who are able to do more but don't is a pretty communist thing to do.

Which is essentially what our welfare system is, right now.
