Dreams are a place where your subconscious works out your problems. Also, when I can control them, they are a great place to experience things that you can't otherwise experience in real life without serious harm.

My dreams always tend to be a bit weird, either based on a small concern or on memories.

I think dreams are a maintenance feature for our brains when we sleep, a way for it to make sure it's working ok. Or it could just be a hallucination caused when your in that light coma. That's at least the scientific me thinking about it. The other half? Your mind and your spirit poking around have having fun with each other.

I recall hearing that, too. I don't know what it would be like to dream in black and white, or sepia tones, or whatever.

Maybe it would be like being Lon Chaney Jr...that could be cool!

That's odd, I have never dreamed in black and white in fact I can only think of one dream that was less than two colors...

Most of my dreams are pretty clearly me thinking about events that have either happened or are going to happen.  Not like precognition or anything, things I speculate will happen.  Either that or some game I'm playing or something I'm writing/drawing.

I remember in Iraq it would get really bad.  I would dream that I was working, only to wake up and have to go back.  I always felt cheated haha :P

a subconcious state of mind where anything realistic or not can happen

Dreams are the mind's screensaver so to speak. It is also our subconscious way of figuring things out that bother us. Whether we realize it or remember them or not. My dreams are extremely detailed, vivid and lifelike. Usually full color. The only time I dream in black and white are dreams where I am a four legged animal. Usually I am a human, very rarely there are furries in them. Many of them are random and make no sense, but just about the same number have full plotlines and could easily be made into an interesting fiction or an art piece. I have done quite a few dream inspired stories and art pieces.

My favorite dreams are the sequencial ones where I finish a plot where I left off, my lucid ones which I control the outcome of (usually ones where I am doing something I can't otherwise do, or decide I want to get off in cause I am a perv), though surprisingly enough my all time favorite, and scary dream is the first one I died in, because of how realistic it was. I think also, it showed me that I could literally do anything in a dream I want to, and also answered the ultimate question in life, ie: what is it like to die? and thus got rid of any fear I had of it.

My least favorite dreams are those involving scat. I know it sounds gross, or the ones which involve starving animals that I am the caretaker of, leaving me to wonder if I am the reason they are starving. Also the dreams that make no sense but seem incredibly important, or that I am afriad but can't find the reason why. These dreams usually have some sort of strange symbol, and I think are the ones that my mind is trying to solve my problems or bring my problems to the spotlight to be worked on. Also dreams that I am trying to wake up but cant, or I wake up to find out I am still dreaming, that make me panic (usually out of fear of being late to work).

I also have a lot of precognition dreams, where I dreamed the events that happened later usually a couple days, in my life. I like them, but they weird me out at the same time.

My dreams seem to be advisory. I once had this really creepy dream where I was about to have sex with my ex. Blood came from my nether regions, and I keeled over in pain, then I threw up. After waking up, and questioning my sanity, the message was clear. DO NOT date her again!  wolf_tongue

Lately my dreams have been about unresolved issues. I wake up feeling frustrated and as if I haven't slept a minute. Sometimes I'm quite angry when I wake up from these dreams because I consider myself to be a bit of problem solver and these dreams are anything but.

A number of years back I would dream of being in fights, nasty ones. Lots of violence and whatnot. I would wake up from these feeling rejuvenated and ready to face the day.

So basically I'm batty is what this is telling me

I was at about 1500m altitude last week for a few days, a difference form my usual 0 meters. While there, I could remember an abnormal amount of dreams in a single night, and was honestley amazed at how... new all the fragments were. Nearly none of them were things I had experienced earlier of had thought about.

Really wonder what helped to remember there, does anyone have any ideas?

I have a couple of different types of dreams. One which are just silly, here and there, the ones where one feels compelled to drink washing up liquid and running across sand etc. Then there are those which are crystal clear and memorable. I had several over the course of a few nights which didn't seem to make a lot of sense sequentially. Yet this is the weird bit, they made perfect sense if the order was reversed!
Another thing I have noticed, it's probably just me, but I have better dreams if I have been meditating for a while before going to sleep, or as I have been going to sleep.

This was on telly while I was working out, last night.

Hope it helps with some scientific input.

I usually remember my dreams if I upon waking think about what I was dreaming about. It helps jog that into memory for me. Though particularly disturbing ones I tend to remember in perfect clarity.
