The festival continued. With Zachariel and Star's days free, they enjoyed the fun and games of the festival. Each afternoon, an event from dancing, to ceremonial launching of small boats with candles to lead the spirits to peace were held. All the while the Cherryblossoms showered them.
Their days were filled with great joy and fun. While at night, when the plants started to release there pheramons, they were at it nearly all through the night. From the forest, to the river and waterfall, to even Kras's hotsprings. Even Kras who had happened to had spotted them, sent his greetings and harmlessly watched as they had fun together.
On the forth evening of the festival, Star and Zach trailed through the forest. THe noice from the crowd at the festival was lively and they chose to take the time to be alone.

Star playfully ran around Zach and pretended to chase him now and then to keep him on his toes as they walked further in. She was thoroughly enjoying herself when suddenly she felt like a bucket of ice water had drenched her from head to foor. She looked around quickly to see if anything was there.

"Star, whats wrong?" Zachariel asked. Suddenly the sensation shook around him as well. A black haze seemed to form in his head, a warning of a danger that loomed close.
"What the..?!" Zach shouted as he felt the swell of magic in the air and the sensation of bloodlust around him. Out from the recesses of the forest, black tendrils shot out of nowhere. They whipped through the air and wrapped around Zachariel, bindiing his limbs tight agaisnt him.
"So there you are...." a voice lulled from the shadows, close but with no point of origin.

Star tried to pull the tendril off Zach and bit and clawed at them. The voice..it sounded familiar and creepy beyond reasoning. She backed away and turned around, and around and around again. Trying to find, to remember the voice.

At that moment, a void of darkness sliced through the trees, and out stepped a black robed figure. He was a black tiger with ashen grey stripes. He stood tall and powerful, his black cloak resting on his strong shoulders. "So you are the two who ruined my base of operations. I am quite displeased what you done!" he growled, his paws flexing at invisible wires.
He was a shadowmancer. A warlock with dominion over shadows that could make them into physical and dealy weapons where ever shadows hid.
"Now you owe me much, and I shall take it out on your hides!" He growled and threw a claw out. The shadows at his feet spread out towards Star, about to grab her as well.

star howled and lept at him over the claws, becoming the ferile hunter she was born to be. She raced towards him snarling and showing her fangs. 2you are the one who will pay for taking what is not yours."

The black tiger, named Zalbar, only grinned as he stayed perfectly still. With a comand of his mind, the shadows wrapped around him. Before Star could reach him, he vanished out of sight. Star stopped, puzzled by his dissapearing act.
"Silly girl," he almost purred in enjoyment of her spunk, "YOu are no match for the likes of me."

A growl rumbled from the tree tops. " A real man fights with his brain, not with his muscles, girl" he chuckled with a sickening laugh. From the floor around Star, the shadows from the trees all sprang to life. In tentacle form, they rushed out to grab her. As one appeared, another followed, threatening to swat Star.
At the same time, Zach struggled against his shadowy bindings. From his paw he was slowly building up magic to release, but it was taking a while for it to fomr.

Star ducked and weaved through the shadows and lept over them as fast as she could, but they were getting quicker. "Well your brain is going to be seriously hurt once I'm through pounding it into the dirt.!"

A lustful growl echoed from the trees as he heard her. "Such spirit, little one," he spoke aloud, "I just might keep you for a while. You will make a lovely pet"
His words caugth her off guard, and with that opprotunity, he struck. One of the shadowy tentacles slithered up her leg and wrapped around it tightly. It lifted her up into the air, leaving her upside down for the other tentacles to latch on her.

Star frooze, insulted by being called a pet and yelped as she was hoisted up intot he air. She sliced, twisted, and writhed to be let free but these tentacles were trouble, biig trouble.

THe dark tiger's laugh was radiant as the tentalces, one after another strangled one of her limbs then another. Before long she was suspended in mid-air, spread eagle as the tentacles kept her limbs streched out. "Ahh, what a lovely sight you are, my dear." Zalbar growled. " I can just imagine all the wonderful things I could do to you." His teases caused her to squirm in venoumous spite.
As this happend, Zachariel built up holy magic behind his bindings. WIth a shout, Light erupted from his paw and seared away the shadows. They lessened, and Zach quickly jumped out of the embrace. Anxiously, he looked around. He was well aware of Star's condition, but he would only delay the danger. He needed to strike the source.
He looked upon the tree tops to find the source. Then, a shimer of black smoke caught his eye. "GOT YOU!" Zachariel shouted, and raised his staff. "SACRED FLARE!"
The golden fire shot from his staff and struck the shadow. At that moment, the voice of Zalbar's turned into a roar of pain as his body appeared from out of the smoke.
