Desert Passion 2 Return of Luka

the thri-kreen motioned them deeper into the crevice, and eventually into a small cavernous community, they had a small town inside the rock above and into the ground below. a few were flying around with their wings, but most of them had no wings of their own. of of their escorts motioned them towards a hut, the light in here was mainly cumming from glass orbs filled with glowing mold or underground bugs. as they walked towards the house a lot of bugs, that looked like the warriors of this tribe. they had wooden shaft with small metal crescent blades on each end.

Krysta didnt feel comfortable around bugs the best of times and she clung tightly to Luka's arm as they walked through the buggy city. She looked around curiously, fascinated by the glowing orbs. She could have sworn one of the gaurds winked at her but she looked away quickly and hid her face against Luka's shoulder.

luka rubbed her reassuringly as they were escorted in. sitting in the center of the room in a meditative position. once they were alone the bug opened its eyes and stood up with a creaking noise as a few joints popped. "im sorry for making you wait but i heard that you were being chased by Dune Hopper through its territory. so i am very curious as to how you survived and why you traveled through such dangerous territory where most know to avoid that area."

Krysta smiled proudly and looked at Luka, nudging his arm for him to explain what happened. Her tail wagged furiously as she held onto his arm. She wished she could speak to him and tell him herself but that was impossable.

luka sighed and then began to explain everything. the old bug was silent for the entire recount and when he finished he chuckled. "my my such a heavy burden fro ones so young. and you are determined to see this through to the end?" luka nodded and looked determined at him. the old bug sighed and nodded. "i will have some of my best scouts escort you and help you out in anyway that they can, does this sound good to you two?" he asked looking at them.

luka was unsure how to respond and looked at krysta to see what she thought.

Krysta smiled at him and gave him a reassuring nod to say that would be fine. She looked at the bug man and tilted her head as he stared back at her. "This one doesn't say much does she?" He looked back to Luka.

"we'll take your help thank you." he said looking at the bug elder before answering the question. "no she doesnt, she is a mute sir, but she is my closest friend."

he nodded and his mandibles clacked against each other as he thought. "when do you two wish to leave? if you want to leave right away my scouts will grab their supplies and escort you, but if you wish to rest then you may do so."

Krysta yawned as the elder bug spoke and blushed a little then looked at Luka. It was his call since it was his quest, she would follow him whatever he decided.

"we'd like to leave as soon as possible, if thats all right." luka asks.

"that is fine, please make yourself comfortable while i arrange for your escort and supplies." he says and then leaves. luka sighs and sits down looking at krysta

Krysta smiled at him and sat beside him then nuzzled his shoulder with approval. She swished her tail a bit as she looked back at him with a questioning look on her face.

he smiled and said, "sorry about staring, i was caught up in my thoughts." he said which was true since he was thinking about their lives and the possible future danger.

she nodded and put her head on hit shoulder and wrapped her arms around him, hoping her message was clear, that she would trust him and go with whatever he decided.

he smiled and returned the hug. "thank you for coming along with me, i dont know if i could do this without you." he says and wraps and arm around her side.

a few more minutes the old bug came back with four others, two of them had wings and two didnt. one of the ones with wings was slightly bigger and had a few more scars over his body. "these four are my best scouts, may they be of use to you in your quest." he said and handed the two of them packs full of supplies that would last in the desert. "if you head south east you will be at the city that you seek within a day."

"thank you sir, this is more then we could ever ask for." luka said smiling gratefully.

Krysta smiled too and looked at the scouts, the scarred one looked like the one who winked at her earlier but she ignored him this time and ook Luka's paw and smiled.

Once they were out of the bug city they walked on southwards to their destination. Krysta yawned again and shook the sand from her fut as one of the flying bugs flew past.

luka did the same before he looked up at the bug that was hovering in the air above them with a dull thrumming sound due to the wings. "all is clear up ahead, just a small harmless herd of bauffs and a Shepard. we can continue on without hassle."

"thank you click, we'll do that." luka says as the bug flies off again. the scarred one was the leader of this group and accepted the nickname click since their names in their native tongue was made of a click and popping sound that only something with mandibles could pronounce. the other three were walking behind them.
