Prolouge:

Chris stared out the window of his parent’s car as they drove on. His white furry tail flicked back and forth. Chris and his parents had kept quiet the whole trip, but none of them minded. The car radio played through out the car. Chris opened his window and stuck his head in. His mother soon looked back at him and said in a sweet, beautiful voice.

"Chris, bring your head back in the car before something bad happens" she said to him.

"Okay mom" Chris replied and brought his head back into the car. He left his window open. Chris father saw the traffic light up ahead turned red. He slowly eased on the brakes, and the car came to a stop. Chris started to quietly hum the tune of the song playing. Chris watched as the cars came by. Soon the light was back to green. His father continued driving. As they were crossing the intersection, Chris noticed light shine off a car heading in there direction. It was a car going 80 kilometers per hour, and only getting faster. Soon, the driver of the car slammed on the brakes. There was a screeching of tires, and soon, everything went dark...

Chapter 1:

Chris looked around at his new settings. His arm still was hurting, even thoguh he had been released from the hospital. His ultramarine eyes stung with tears. His ears were back against his head. He almost looked as sad as he felt. Consuming him was a sadness great then can ever be written. He sat down on a couch quietly, letting out only a faint whimper.

He had been brought to The Star wood Orphanage. This was not how Chris had imagined his future. He missed his parents. They say you never really appreciate something till it’s gone. Chris now knows the truth behind that statement all too well. Chris hunched over, a tear falling from his eye. He silently cried, but little did he know his sadness had not gone unnoticed.

Chris felt the couch shift under him as someone sat down beside him. He felt a paw on his back.

"What’s wrong?" a concerned voice asked him. Chris glanced up at the stranger. The stranger was a grizzly bear, a bit larger then Chris. The bear wore a blue muscle top, and some blue jeans to match. Chris wiped the tears off with his furry forearm.

"N-nothing," he said, choking on his tears "I just miss my mom and Dad" He tried to hold his tears back, but he couldn't help it. More tears stained his white fur. He felt one of the bear's muscular arms wrap around him, and hold him close.

"We all do" said the bear; wanting to change the subject "my name is Ben, what’s yours?" Chris looked at Ben. The arctic wolf sniffed and wiped his nose.

"M-my name is Christopher, but everyone just calls me Chris" he said. His choked a bit cause of the tears. He looked up at Ben with his deep blue eyes. Ben smiled down at Chris.

"Pleasure to meet you Chris," Ben got up from the couch and motioned with his paw for Chris to come "I want you to meet some friends of mine." Chris nodded and got up from the couch. Ben walked on, knowing where to find his friends. He walked into a room.  In the room where a grey fox and pit bull watching Television.

"Hey guys, I want you too meet Chris, he is new around here." Ben announced to the two. They both looked back at Ben and Chris. The two rose from their seats and walked over. The grey fox looked Chris up and down, and then extended a paw.

"The name is Oliver" he said, cheerfully. Chris took Oliver's paw and shook it.

"Nice to meet you Oliver" he said, examining the Grey fox. He smiled a bit at Oliver. The pit bull stepped up in front of Oliver, who moved over to Ben's side.

"Name's Chuck," he said, extending his paw also. Chris shook his paw as well. "So, you're new, huh?" Chuck asked. Chris nodded silently.

"Don't worry, you'll get used to life here" Chuck said smiling.

"Yeah, and if you need anything just ask" Oliver added. Ben smiled down at Oliver, then he bent down and kissed Oliver's forehead. Oliver looked up at Ben and smiled. Chris smiled while watching the couple. They make a cute pair he thought to himself. He then felt Chuck elbow him in the shoulder. Chuck motioned with his head for Chris the follow him. Chris decided that he and Chuck probably should give them their privacy. He followed Chuck out of the room.

He followed as Chuck gave him a tour of the building. Chris had met some other orphanages while looking around.

"You see Chris; we are nothing but one big family. We stick together, no matter what. If you ever need anything, just ask and someone will help ya" Chuck explained. Chris nodded his head. He knew his life here was just beginning.
